I Headed out to Face Canyon on Lake Powell on a freezing winter day in hopes of finding this water fall frozen. I found this place about about a year ago and knew I would be back for a project. Unfortunately the frozen water fall will have to wait for an even colder day however I have been wanting to capture some light streaking through a canyon. This was my first time taking a picture with this in mind. Any light streaks that I have captured in the past are usually a lens flare that happened by accident. When I first began to edit this shot I originally cropped the image to cut out the over exposed sky however as I tried to enhance the light visuals I realized that being able to see the over exposed sky adds dramatically to the lights streaks. I think this is a technique that I will continue to utilize and will begin to shoot with it in mind. I am excited to see how this can be an additional focus for some images. I wonder how it will pair with a focus stacked image. I am exited to start to blend some of the techniques I have been working on.
